  • Introduction
    Zingiber officinale has yellow-green flowers and a pungent scent of rhizomes. The plant is 0.5-1 m tall, and the rhizome is thick, multi-branched, aromatic and spicy. Leaves lanceolate or linear-lanceolate, glabrous, sessile; peduncle up to 25 cm long, spike-like inflorescence cone-shaped, bracts ovate, pale green or yellowish margins, apex with small pointed tip. Calyx tube about 1 cm long, corolla yellowish-green, lobes lanceolate, labial lobes oblong-obovate.
