  • Introduction
    Ocimum basilicum prefers warm and humid climates, is not cold-tolerant, drought-tolerant, waterlogging-tolerant, and preferably well-drained, fertile sandy loam or humus loam. Stems erect, obtuse tetramorphic, upper slightly grooved, glabrous at base, upper inverted pubescent, green, often stained red, multi-branched. Leaves ovate to ovate oblong, 2.5~5 cm long, 1~2.5 cm wide, racemes are born on stems and branches, each part is slightly pubescent, usually 10~20 cm long, calyx bell-shaped, 4 mm long, 3.5 mm wide, pubescent on the outside, sparsely pubescent on the throat, usually 7~9 months in flowering, 9~12 months in fruiting period.
