    Sechium edule petioles slender, glabrous, 5-15 cm long, leaves membranous, nearly rounded, middle lobes larger, flanks smaller, apex acuminate, margins with small fine teeth, base heart-shaped, deeply curved, nearly rounded, 1-3 cm deep, 1-2 cm wide, male flowers 10-30 flowers born in the upper part of the 8-30 cm long peduncle into racemes, inflorescence axis slightly stout, glabrous, peduncle 1-6 mm long, fruit pale green, obovate, with sparse short bristles, 8-12 cm long, 6-8 cm diameter, 5 longitudinal grooves in the upper part, with 1 seed。 The seeds are large, up to 10 cm long and 7 cm wide, ovate, flattened. The flowering period is from July to September, and the fruiting period is from August to October.
