Marchantia polymorpha / Umbrella liverwort / 地钱

  • Introduction
    Marchantia polymorpha grows on shady slopes, under walls, or on wet soils or rocks in marshes. The phylloids are dark green, broad-banded, bifid and bifurcated, 5-10 cm long and 1-2 cm wide, with wavy margins and lobes. The back is divided by hexagonal, neatly arranged air cells, and most of the air chambers are equipped with upright nutrient filaments. The ventral surface of the spores is covered by the stalk, the stalk is 6 cm long, and the front end of the dorsal back of the phyllodes often has a cup-shaped asexual spore cup.
