  • Introduction
    Vigna unguiculata stems are nearly glabrous. Pinnately compound leaves with 3 leaflets, pedicular lanceolate, about 1 cm long, with a short distance below the birth, striated, lobules ovate rhomboid, 5-15 cm long, 4-6 cm wide, apex acutely acuminate, margins entireous or nearly entire, sometimes lavender, glabrous. The pods droop, erect or obliquely spread, linear, 7.5-70 (90) cm long, 6-10 mm wide, slightly fleshy and swollen or firm, with multiple seeds, seeds oblong or cylindrical or slightly kidney-shaped, 6-12 mm long, yellowish-white, dark red or other colors. Flowering period is from May to August.
