    Coffea is genus in the family Rubiaceae, order Gentianales, native to Africa, with many varieties. Each variety is associated with specific climate conditions and altitudes. Wild coffee trees are evergreen shrubs, standing 3 to 3.5 meters tall. They have small white flowers on their branches that possess the fragrance of jasmine. The fruit is 1.5 to 1.8 centimeters long, red in color, and contains two seeds arranged side by side. Each seed is encased in an endocarp and a parchment-like membrane.
