  • Introduction
    Cajanus cajan is about 1-3 meters. Multi-branched, branchlets with distinct longitudinal ridges, covered with grey pubescence. Leaves pinnately 3 leaflets, pedicles small, ovate-lanceolate, 2-3 mm long, petioles 1.5-5 cm long, shallow grooves above, fine longitudinal ridges below, slightly pubescent. racemes 3-7 cm long, pedicels 2-4 cm long, flowers several born at or near the top of the inflorescences, bracts ovate-elliptic, calyx bell-shaped, up to 7 mm long, lobes triangular or lanceolate, inflorescences, pedicels, bracts, calyx are covered with grayish-yellow pubescence, seeds 3-6, nearly rounded, slightly flattened, seed coat dark red, sometimes with brown spots. Flowering and fruiting period from February to November.
