Artemisia annua / Sweet wormwood / 青蒿

  • Introduction
    Artemisia annua is an annual herb with a strong volatile aroma. Roots solitary, vertical, narrowly spindle-shaped, stems solitary, 100-200 cm high, base diameter up to 1 cm, longitudinally ridged, green when young, later brown or reddish-brown, multi-branched, lower leaves broadly ovate or triangular-ovate, 3-7 cm long, 2-6 cm wide, capitate inflorescence spherical, most, 1.5-2.5 cm in diameter, with short peduncles, achenes small, elliptic-ovate, slightly flattened. The flowering and fruiting period is from August to November. Likes warmth and sunshine, avoids water immersion, and does not tolerate shade.
