  • Introduction
    Hibiscus cannabinus is a short-day thermophilic crop, suitable for growing in deep sandy loam soils, annual or perennial herbaceous plant, up to 3 m high, stems erect, glabrous, flowers solitary in the axils of the leaves at the end of the branches, nearly sessile, bracts 7-10, linear, 6-8 mm long, detached, capsule spherical, about 1.5 cm in diameter, densely covered with prickly hairs, with a short beak at the apex, stamens 1.5-2 cm long, glabrous, columella 5, glabrous. The seeds are kidney-shaped, nearly glabrous.
