  • Introduction
    Beta vulgaris 20-30 cm long, 10-15 cm wide, with long petioles, wrinkled and slightly shiny above, with stout convex veins below, entirety or slightly wavy, apex obtuse, base wedge-shaped, truncated or slightly heart-shaped, petioles stout, convex below, flat or grooved above, stem-bearing leaves alternate, smaller, ovate or lanceolate, oblong, apex acuminate, base tapering into a short stalk. The perianth is lobed in strips or narrowly rounded, and when fruiting, it becomes leathery and arches inward. The lower part of the fruit is sunken in a hardened tepal, and the upper part is slightly fleshy. Seeds biconvex mirror-shaped, 2-3 mm in diameter, reddish-brown, shiny, annular, pale, endosperm powdery, white. The flowering period is from May to June, and the fruiting period is July.
