  • Introduction
    Olea europaea can reach up to 10 meters tall and has gray bark. Branches grey or greyish-brown, nearly cylindrical, scattered with rounded pores, branchlets angular, densely covered with silvery-gray scales, slightly flattened at the nodes. Panicles axillary or apical, 2-4 cm long, shorter than leaves, pedicels 0.5-1 cm long, covered with silver-gray scales, bracts lanceolate or ovate, 0.5-2 mm long, ovary spherical, glabrous, columella short, about 0.3 mm long, stigma capitate, 2-lobed. The fruit is oval, 1.6-2.5 cm long, 1-2 cm in diameter, blue-black when ripe, flowering in April-May, fruiting in June-September.
