Sinapis alba / White mustard / 白芥

  • Introduction
    Sinapis alba has a wide range of adaptability and strong resistance to stress, suitable for an altitude of 1300-1900 meters, with an average annual temperature of 13-18 °C. The requirements for the soil are wide, and purple soil and sandy loam soil are the most suitable. Annual herb, up to 75 (-100) cm high, stems erect, branched, slightly outwardly folded stiff hairs. The lower leaves are large-headed, 5-15 cm long, 2-6 cm wide, with 2-3 pairs of lobes, racemes with many flowers, fruiting up to 30 cm, without bracts, flowers pale yellow, about 1 cm in diameter, seeds 1-4 per chamber, spherical, about 2 mm in diameter, yellowish-brown, with fine dimples. The flowering and fruiting period is from June to August.
