    Apium graveolens root leaves sessile, petiole 2-26 cm long, slightly enlarged at base into membranous leaf sheaths, leaf outline oblong to obovate, 7-18 cm long, 3.5-8 cm wide, usually 3-lobed to mid-lobed or 3-lobed, lobes nearly rhomboid, margins roundly serrated or serrate, veins raised on both sides, upper stem-borne leaves have short stalks, leaf outline broadly triangular, usually split into 3 leaflets, leaflets obovate, margins above the middle are sparsely serrated or notched.
