  • Introduction
    Momordica charantia petioles are thin, pubescent at first, nearly glabrous, 4-6 cm long, monoecious. Male flowers: solitary leaf axils, peduncle slender, slightly pubescent, 3-7 cm long, with 1 bract in the middle or lower part, fruit spindle or cylindrical, wrinkled, 10-20 cm long, orange-yellow when ripe, lobed by 3 lobes at the apex. The seeds are numerous, oblong, with a red aril, with 3 small teeth at each end, with engraved lines on both sides, 1.5-2 cm long and 1-1.5 cm wide. The flowering and fruiting period is from May to October.
