  • Introduction
    Corchorus olitorius woody herb, 1-3 meters high. Leaves papery, oblong-lanceolate, 7-10 cm long, 2-4.5 cm wide, apex acuminate, base rounded, glabrous on both sides, 5 veins at base, no more than half ascending on both sides, midrib with 7-10 pairs of lateral veins, margins finely serrate, petioles 1.6-3.5 cm long, pubescent above, pedicles ovate-lanceolate, about 1 cm long. The flowers are solitary or several arranged in axillary clusters of umbel inflorescences, with short inflorescence stalks and flower stalks; sepals oblong, with long horns at the apex, hairy at the base; petals equal to sepals or slightly shorter, oblong, with stalks at the base; stamens numerous, detached; stamens with very short stalks, glabrous; ovary hairy, stigma disc-shaped, with shallow lobes. Capsule 3-8 cm long, slightly curved, 10-edged, apex with 1 protruding angle, 5-6 lobes, transverse, seeds inverted conical, slightly ridged. Flowering period is summer and autumn.
