  • Introduction
    Prunus salicina has a broadly rounded canopy, the bark is grayish-brown and undulating, the old branches are purplish-brown or reddish-brown, glabrous, the branchlets are yellowish-red, glabrous, the leaves are oblong-obovate, oblong-elliptic, sparsely oblong-ovate, 6-8(-12) cm long, 3-5 cm wide, the flowers are usually 3 concurrent, and the peduncle is 1-2 cm, usually glabrous. Drupes spherical, ovoid or nearly conical, 3.5-5 cm in diameter, cultivars up to 7 cm, yellow or red, flowering in April, fruiting in July-August.
