Taxonomy: Angiosperms / Eudicots / Rosids / Rosales / Rosaceae

Introduction

1. Fragaria corymbosa, commonly known as the Umbellate Strawberry or Strawberry Tree Strawberry, is a perennial herb native to parts of Asia, including China. It is a member of the Rosaceae family and is known for its attractive flowers and edible fruits.
2. The plant typically grows up to 30 cm tall. The leaves are trifoliate, with leaflets that are obovate, elliptic, or broadly ovate, measuring 1-5 cm long. The leaf margins have incised serrations, and both surfaces of the leaves are sparsely covered with short, soft hairs.
3. The flowers are arranged in cymose inflorescences, with 2-4 (sometimes 5) flowers per cluster. The flowers have white, obovate petals and are supported by pedicels that are 1-3 cm long and covered with appressed soft hairs. The fruit is an aggregate of small, red, ovoid achenes, which are edible and sweet.
4. Fragaria corymbosa is found in several regions of China, including Jilin, Shaanxi, Gansu, Xinjiang, Sichuan, Yunnan, and Guizhou. It grows in a variety of habitats, such as slopes, grasslands, and under forest canopies. The species is adapted to temperate climates and is also found in other parts of the North Temperate Zone, including Europe and North America.
