Salvia splendens
Salvia splendens, or scarlet sage, is an annual or tender perennial in the Lamiaceae family, native to Brazil. Its vibrant red flower spikes bloom from summer to fall, attracting hummingbirds and butterflies. Growing 1-3 feet tall, it thrives in full sun and well-drained soil. Scarlet sage is popular in beds, borders, and containers due to its bold color and long blooming period. It’s easy to grow and drought-tolerant once established, making it a favorite for warm-climate gardens. Varieties in purple, pink, or white are also available.
