Papaver rhoeas

Description

Papaver rhoeas, or corn poppy, is an annual in the Papaveraceae family, native to Europe and Asia. Its bright red, delicate flowers bloom in late spring to summer, often in fields or disturbed soils. Growing 1-2 feet tall, it thrives in full sun and well-drained soil. Corn poppies are symbolic of remembrance, particularly for World War I, due to their growth in battle-scarred fields. They attract pollinators and are easy to grow, making them popular in wildflower gardens. Their vibrant blooms add a splash of color to landscapes.
