Camellia nitidissima
Camellia nitidissima, known as golden camellia, is a rare evergreen shrub from the Theaceae family, native to southern China and Vietnam. Its striking golden-yellow flowers bloom in late winter to early spring, contrasting with glossy, dark green leaves. Growing 6-15 feet tall, it thrives in acidic, well-drained soil and partial shade. This species is prized for its ornamental value and is often used in shaded gardens or as a specimen plant. It requires protection from harsh sun and frost. Golden camellia is also culturally significant, symbolizing prosperity in some Asian traditions.
